Heh, I've hosted a Warmshowers guy (is there any chance you know him?  Stephen S...) from Australia, who's lived in Holland for a couple of years, and was cycling to... no, not Australia Just some Balkans countries. I guess he finished in Bosnia or sth...

This is the clip I made after cycling the coast with a friend 2 years ago.
You will be able to see what kind of routes and surfaces to expect.
If I was to do it again, I would do it on bigger tyres. 1,6" was at times not enough!

Hi all,
After a really great trip through Poland last year on the way from Holland to the North Cape (http://arctic-cycler.com/biking/eindhoven-nordkapp-kirkenes-2013/), I am cycling this year from Holland to Australia (http://arctic-cycler.com/world-cycle-2014/).

I'll be meeting people. I will observe, and I will write. What are the sustainability issues people face across my path, and how do they deal with them? Who are the people? What are their stories? I will also support Green Pedals (http://www.facebook.com/greenpedalsforschools) to promote this dialogue, and use to realise sustainable infrastructure in selected schools on my route.

Holland to Australia, sounds great! But why not go a little farther, say... New Zealand? Not only is it a paradise on Earth, but also it's the farthest you can get from Holland - isn't it a perfect destination for a bike tour?

Thanks for your best wishes! Indeed, New Zealand is a beautiful country. Maybe I will cycle there too. The goal if this trip is to return to where I was born, which is Adelaide, Australia. Also a beautiful place.. :-)

And visiting schools... not on your way but one never knows - I work at school in Ireland just give me a shout if you're by any chance passing us by. The rainy and foggy countries might be as interesting as the sunny ones (doesn't sound too convincing I'm afraid ). You got my 'like' for Greenpedals, I admire your idea.

Hey. Thanks Hindiana. Unfortunately Ireland is not in my way. The weather there sounds a bit like Dutch weather. :-)
